Party Fundraising in a Pandemic
The most important skill of any official LobbyRule candidate, or potential candidate, is the ability to raise funds for our election campaigns. When they fail to do so, their status in the party is diminished. They may even be persuaded to leave the party and bother the public in other ways.
Being loud and controversial is often necessary as a way to raise one's public profile.
But putting ideas about war into the heads of international bullies is not a good idea, whether on one occasion or more, in a pandemic or otherwise.
The LobbyRule Party in South Australia is at war with itself. It is even muddled up about how to raise money for state and federal election campaigns.
The federal government itself has no idea of the meaning of representative democracy.
In previous years, its members have been very happy to oblige foreign requests for special treatment.
In politics, it pays to have lots of money or friends with lots of money.
The Young Lobby Born-to-Rulers do their best to raise funds for us by selling lumps of coal.
Their parents can already claim personal tax deductions by donating to us.
Pre-pandemic fundraising was much easier, in 2018, and 2019.
The LobbyRule Party in Western Australia had a few qualms about foreign donations back in 2018 but apparently not in 2016.
Donors associated with China have had a long association not only with us but with Laybore, too.
But who can be trusted?
How do you know when trickery is happening?
How do you tell who is, and who is not, an Aussie battler in 2021?
How do you tell who is, and who is not, an agent of Mr Xi, with or without earlier connections to Mr Hu?
Who has most recently received a donation from Sally Zhou?
Keeping a distance from dubious sources of cash is a little easier in a pandemic.
Organising federal parliamentary events in Sydney rather than Canberra, to coincide with lucrative party fundraising activities, is always a good idea, as is having party fundraisers in Parliament House in Canberra. That, after all, is the main purpose of parliament from our point of view.
Some LobbyRulers and former LobbyRulers think we are not right wing enough.
But it is possible to buy privileged access to political power in Australia without going to dangerous extremes.
Would you rather buy access in Sydney, Canberra, Betoota or Beetaloo?
Fundraising towards gaining or retaining political power is a serious business, whether for a gas-led fundraising recovery or to funnel money through a tax haven.
Getting rid of corruption is obviously not one of our priorities, whether in the Northern Territory or New South Wales.
We have to deal with whingeing, pesky environmentalists and (other) little shrimps as economically as possible.
Why do trouble makers think there is something wrong with giving millions of taxpayer dollars to oil and gas companies in the lead up to COP26?
Why do they believe they are more important than the fossil fuel lobby?
Why are ordinary Australians deluded enough to believe they are as important as the prime marketer?
Whether you prefer to receive your news inside a News Crap bubble, or in a Canberra bubble of one sort or another, or through a Betoota Advocate exclusive, or directly from the Mammon God, or from another contact, always remember that fire is politically dangerous, donations from apparent opponents to coalition partners/problems are weird, and the war chest used for winning the last federal election contained a pittance compared with the money required to win a war, or lose one.
